Do you miss David Bowie and dig bands like Phantogram? Here’s Öhrn. According to Ja Ja Ja, “Bang Bang” will appear on an EP due late November via her own label, Eagle Brain. Stay tuned for hopefully more of that singing and saxophone.

According to Bandcamp Daily, Berlin duo Gurr has invented a new sound with its debut album ‘In My Head’: First Wave Gurrlcore. According to the band’s Facebook, that sound is “garagepop…sounds like a trashy 60s girl group meshed with poppy vocals in two voices and a flavor of eeriness dug out from the deep darkness that is the Berlin rocknroll bar’s restroom at 5 am.” It also sounds like a Pavement record that’s actually at peace with itself. And while we wait for the new Real Estate album, Gurr’s breezy guitar work will do the trick.

This music video by Madrid rapper BEJO is, uh, something. I think it involves Magos, but only because the song is called “Mango.” There are six-eyed men and cartoonish parrots watching you. Unknowingly, you silently shake to BEJO’s subtle but strong beat. There are some sheep, I think. And a frying pan. So fresh.

When I listen to Warsaw producer Bartosz Kruczyński, aka Pejzaż, I don’t know if I’m listening to either trailer music for the new James Bond movie or some new European club music that would be James Bond-approved. Either way, I love it. Kruczyński is also the man behind Earth Trax, Ptaki, and The Phantom.

From Beehype: “With their laid-back, warm atmosphere, both songs might remind you about the most adorable things we have heard from Ninja Tune. But if you happen to live in Warsaw, you’ll find it a perfect sound illustration of this year’s sleepy summer in the city.”

Mikko Joensuu‘s “There Used To Be A Darkness” is the first taste of the Finnish musician’s upcoming album, Amen 2, the second of an album trilogy all named Amen (Amen 1, Amen 2, andAmen 3). As the name suggests, the music evokes a sort of spiritual serenity with its glowing electronic ambience. But then a Stone Roses-like groove kicks in and you feel like you’re in a Jason Bourne movie trailer.

If Joensuu can make 11-minutes seem like not enough time for a song, then I can’t wait to hear the rest of Amen 2.

Bandcamp Daily did a great profile on the Paris-based rock group Dead Pirates and how it transformed from a fake cartoon band into a real band. I recommend reading the entire profile as you check out the music video for “Ugo” below.

The group began as musical accompaniment for a music video by French illustrator Matthieu Bessudo (known as Mcbess). At first Mcbess did all the music, but soon he recruited other members and began touring the music. A side project turned into a full-time gig.

“It was strange,” Mcbess tells Bandcamp. “I went to South America to do an exhibition, and a friend of mine there was into some good music and said it would be easy to set up a tour. He landed us like six or seven dates.”

Highmare is the group’s debut LP. The “Ugo” music video features Mcbess’ trademark Max Fleischer-inspired artwork as the video is some sort of twisted adult spin on the classic animation.

On Ja Ja Ja I came across this great Blondage remix of Denmark’s M.I.L.K., which comes at just the right time as the summer begins to wind down and I need new tunes to keep myself in the sun as long as possible.

M.I.L.K.’s original song still sounds like summer, but in the way you want to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon in your friend’s pool drinking and getting sunburnt. This remix will get you moving and most likely dancing, either in your backyard all by yourself (totally cool) or in the streets of your major metropolitan area (also totally cool, as long as it’s summer). Both versions go hand in hand – you need music to pump you up and music to slow you down.

Here’s M.I.L.K. talking about the collaboration via Ja Ja Ja: “I’ve wanted to work with Esben and Pernille from Blondage for a loooong time. They are simply the best new thing in Scandinavian pop if you ask me, and they are super fun to be around. Our collaboration started earlier this year when I directed a music video for their summersmash “Dive” – we actually didn’t know each other that well before, but that changed after 8 days of intense shooting in New York. When we came back to Copenhagen we just started hanging out and then this remix happened.”
