In 1976 the members of a young punk band called the Ramones was photographed along this wall in Albert’s Garden, which is along 2nd St. between 2nd Ave and Bowery. That photograph would become the album cover of their debut album, one of the seminal albums of American punk. The wall has gone through some construction over the years, so it looks a little different from the photo. However this wall, in this tiny obscure East Village garden, was where it all happened.
